We spent over a week in Mexico City and although we had a great time, the weather was distinctively chilly and often wet.
Whilst there we attended the Corona Capital Music Festival where we saw some great bands including Killers, Tegan and Sara, Courtney Barnett, Richard Ashcroft, Struts, Pet Shop Boys and Band of Horses. By nightfall, we were freezing and huddled around the heaters in the V.I.P lounge! I wasn't expecting that in Mexico!
Another highlight was attending Lucha Libre wrestling on a Sunday afternoon. Although not usually something that I would consider doing, it is an incredibly popular family event in Mexico. The arena was in a dodgy part of town, but we made it there and back using the excellent metro system and had the most fun of the trip so far!
The crowd got really into it and were shouting for their favourite wrestlers. Food vendors circulated constantly selling beer and popcorn. The atmosphere was electric. We were in the third row and almost got knocked out ourselves when one of the wrestlers came flying towards us!
It was our second visit to Mexico City, but this time we discovered El Museo de Arte Popular and it was fantastic - without doubt, the most colourful museum I have ever visited. Here are a few pictures.
